Westmorland County Show 2009
Thousands bask in sun at Westmorland County Show
A record-breaking amount of visitors packed onto the Crooklands show field for one of the most successful Westmorland County Shows in recent memory.
Thousands basked in sunshine during the highlight of the South Lakeland agricultural calendar, which featured the traditional array of top breeds, trade stands, local produce, crafts and children's activities.
As ever, the quality and quantity of livestock ensured a strong standard of competition throughout the many show classes. A two-year-old Simmental, which was four months in calf, received the honour of being named supreme beef champion, while a mule shearing took the Supreme Lowland sheep title.
Thank you to all the visitors, exhibitors and volunteer stewards who supported the 210th Westmorland County Show - without such a loyal following the event could not be what it is today.
Results, photos and more detailed reports will follow over the next few days.
