The
Chris Lambert Bursary
Chris Lambert was Secretary of the Westmorland Agricultural Society
from 1973 until his death in 1998. He was a highly respected member of
the agricultural community and brought the Society through from being
a struggling and financially burdened organisation, to a healthy and viable
Limited Company. In recognition of all his efforts, particularly his willingness
and support in helping others the Society have set up the Chris Lambert
Bursary Fund.
Aim
of Bursary
To encourage, promote and improve agriculture, horticulture, allied industry,
rural crafts, livestock breeding and forestry conservation, and to encourage
agricultural, horticultural and conservational education and research.
Financial Limitation
The Westmorland Agricultural Society has invested a capital sum of money
in order to realise approximately £1,500 per annum interest. This
interest is available to award scholarships to one or more persons who,
in the opinion of the Chris Lambert Bursary Committee, fulfil the objectives
of the Bursary. Normally awards will be made once a year with applications
being invited by no later than mid-August in order that the presentations
can be made at the County Show, held on the second Thursday in September
Qualifications
The award is only available to applicants living within a 55 mile radius
of the County Showfield at Crooklands, Cumbria. There are no other restrictions.
If successful in gaining an award, applicants would be expected to give
a short presentation of their experiences resulting from the award, to
a meeting of the Society's Management Committee.
The Chris Lambert Bursary Committee
The Chris Lambert Bursary Committee consists of the Chairman and Vice-Chairman
of the Society, the Chairman of the Finance Committee, the Chief Executive
and Treasurer. In addition, a member of the Chris Lambert family is always
invited to serve on the Committee
