Country Fest 2017
Saturday 3rd June & Sunday 4th June 2017
Country Fest is a 2 day event held at The County Showground, Lane Farm, Crooklands, brought to you by the Westmorland County Agricultural Society, organisers of the Westmorland County Show.
Celebrating Cumbria’s excellent reputation for culinary delights, Country Fest visitors can try and buy a variety of outstanding local produce from the Food Zone and enjoy demonstrations from some household names in the Food Theatre (keep checking back for updates). After last year's success, our Bake a Cake competition will be a firm favourite for 2017 and is open to bakers of all ages, so dust off the apron and get baking! Entry forms available online. New for 2017, we will host a children’s cooking workshop in the Food Theatre for children of all ages to get involved with, so if you have a mini Mary Berry, or Jamie Oliver in the family, make sure they’re booked onto our workshop! Our ever popular Sausage Making Workshop will also be sure to get booked up quickly so make sure you get your name down for this.
Our Discover Farming Zone is an interactive area to learn about where our food comes from, meet all sorts of farm animals, see sheep shearing demos and even watch a cow being milked. We welcome back Cumbria Young Farmer’s Tug of War County Final - cheer on your favourites in this battle of strength to see who is crowned the winner. As well as all this, the Rare Breeds Society are hosting their fantastic Young Shepherd Event, with classes, demonstrations and workshops all weekend.
It will be hard to tear the family away from our packed Demo Arena, but make sure not to miss SmileFactor10’s colourful kite displays. The skies are filled with spectacular creatures, including a giant octopus, a colourful manta ray and a huge purple teddy named Oscar! (Don’t forget your teddies, for the death-defying Teddy Bear Parachute Drop!)
We are delighted to welcome the Women’s Institute for the first time this year, and they will be providing us with a marquee full to the rafters of their inspired art and floral exhibits. Another new addition this year includes the Competitive Craft Marquee, with plenty of handicraft competitions for all ages to get involved with.
A must for dog lovers, the Companion Dog Show will take place on Saturday and all dogs are welcome to take part, with huge a selection of classes to choose from, including novelty and children's classes. Is your Terrier the fastest around? Enter them into the Terrier Racing competition to find out! This frantically fast-paced event is a favourite on both days of the Festival, with prizes for the winners. County Fest will also host a Terrier Show on Sunday, with 22 classes, and of course, not forgetting the Open Sheepdog Trails which will be held on both days of the Fest.
Our 10k Trail Race incorporates stunning farmland and views, and because Country Fest is a festival for all, there will be a 1k Mini Trail for Under 15 year olds too!
The Vintage Revival Marquee will have everything you need for your Vintage wardrobe, wedding and home, plus craft demonstrations throughout the weekend and a fabulously British Vintage Tea Room. Come and browse amongst the treasures at your leisure.
Calling All Terriers
