WESTMORLAND COUNTY SHOW

TENTH ANNUAL STOCKMANSHIP

COMPETITION

To be held at Park House Farm, Heversham on Thursday 19 April, 2007 at 7.00 pm

Rules of Competition

1 Open to all young people under the age of 26 on 1st April 2007, resident of anywhere in Cumbria or within 25 mile radius of the County Showfield, Crooklands.

2 There will be a Senior section for those aged 21 or over on 1st April 2007 and a Junior section for those under 21 on 1st April 2007.

3 Entries for the Competition are taken on the evening.

4 Entries are for individuals in the age group specified or as teams of four, comprising of 2 juniors and 2 seniors. If entered as a team representing a Young Farmers Club, the name of the Club should be clearly indicated on the entry form.

5 Competitors will be asked to judge Dairy, Beef and Lamb stock and also complete a short questionnaire on Animal Health.

6 Competitors will be asked to judge each section of livestock against the placings of master judges and will be asked to give their reasons and markings based on standard YFC format.

7 Judging and Prize giving will be carried out at the end of the evening.

8 The Westmorland Gazette Shield will be presented to the Senior Section Winner and the Westmorland County Agricultural Society Trophy to the winner in the Junior Section. These trophies will also be re-presented at the Westmorland County Show. In addition each winner will receive a tankard to keep and generous cash prizes will be awarded to the first three in each Section. A Team Trophy and Cash Prize is also awarded to the winning YFC Club. There is no entry fee.

9 £25 will be given to each YFC that sends a full team of four.

This event is jointly organised by the Westmorland County Agricultural Society and representatives from the Cumbria Federation of Young Farmers Clubs.
